JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) is offering 7,600 overseas job openings at the 2025 Job Festival in Jakarta on 13–14 November, in partnership with 20 licensed recruitment agencies.

The available jobs cover sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, construction, agriculture, and fisheries, with placements in countries including Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and South Korea.

Deputy Minister Christina Aryani, as quoted by state-owned news agency Antara, said the ministry wants to make it easier for Indonesians to find safe and credible opportunities abroad while helping them prepare with the right skills.

P2MI will also record interested job seekers and connect them with training programs suited to their needs.

Christina added that through this event, the ministry hopes more people will understand the importance of using official recruitment channels and help build a more skilled and protected community of Indonesian workers overseas.

The Jakarta Job Festival 2025 is being held at the Kartika Expo Center, Balai Kartini, South Jakarta. Organized by the DKI Jakarta government, the event connects job seekers with dozens of companies across industries such as technology, finance, retail, and manufacturing from domestic and international companies.

Migrant workers make a big contribution to Indonesia’s economy. Remittance, the money they send home to their families, forms an important part of the country’s GDP.

Southeast Asia’s most populous country recorded a staggering USD 16.04 billion in remittances last year, which amounts to 1.15 percent of its GDP. Though, the actual numbers might be higher than what’s on paper.

Earlier this month, the Indonesian government said it will begin prioritising the placement of middle- to high-skilled migrant workers abroad.

Coordinating Minister for People’s Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar said too many Indonesians going overseas are still in low-skilled jobs, and the country needs to prepare workers who can compete globally.
