KUALA LUMPUR - The National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM) and BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (BRICS WBA) will establish the BRICS WBA Regional Office in Malaysia, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 25 November.

The Regional Office will act as a platform to strengthen economic ties between women entrepreneurs from BRICS countries and Malaysia.

It will also support market access, encourage cross-border opportunities and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin during the opening ceremony of WE2025: Future in Motion at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Also attended were the Deputy Minister of Economy Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, the fourth President of the Republic of Kosovo H.E. Atifete Jahjaga and senior representatives from the public and private sectors.

The MoU underscores a shared commitment to responsible, meaningful and sustainability-driven collaboration among women in business.

WE2025 highlights Malaysia’s efforts to drive inclusive economic growth through women’s leadership.

The MoU signing took place alongside the launch of the inaugural WE2025 event, which aims to boost women’s participation in leadership, trade and innovation across ASEAN.

NAWEM was represented by Deputy President Saliza Abdullah, who also serves as Co-Chair of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) Malaysia, while BRICS WBA was represented by Anna Nesterova, Chairperson of its Russian Chapter.

The partnership marks a major milestone for NAWEM as it becomes the sole Malaysian partner of BRICS WBA.
