KUALA LUMPUR - The Yangon Region Investment Committee (YRIC) has approved six new investment projects across the manufacturing, hotel and service sectors, with a combined capital of about USD4.98 million and K9.56 billion.

The approvals include one local investment in hotel and tourism, four investments in manufacturing involving both local and foreign firms, and one joint venture in the service sector, following a meeting held in late December 2025.

The projects cover activities such as producing construction materials for the local market, rice processing for export and domestic sale, exporting value-added farm products and recycled metal scraps, assembling motorcycles for local sales, and providing hotel services, said an official of the YRIC.

Together, the new businesses are expected to create 415 jobs for local workers.

The committee also reviewed operational matters involving 17 existing companies, including a workforce expansion of 430 jobs at one firm.

YRIC said it continues to approve investments in line with the Myanmar Investment Law to encourage economic growth and generate more employment opportunities.
