JAKARTA - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali were the busiest airports in InJourney Airports’ network in the first quarter of 2026.
Indonesia’s state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) handled 38.20 million passengers across 37 airports, up about 5 percent from 36.38 million in the same period a year earlier.
In a press release issued on April 9, InJourney Airports said domestic passengers reached 28.38 million in January-March, while international passengers totaled 9.82 million. Total aircraft movements rose 8.7 percent to 299,759 flights, from 275,782 a year earlier.
President Director Mohammad R. Pahlevi said the increase was driven by stronger travel demand during the Christmas and New Year holiday period in January 2026 and the Eid al-Fitr travel season in March 2026.
“The increase in demand for air travel during the peak season period in January 2026 and March 2026 can be accommodated by InJourney Airports through good collaboration with all stakeholders at the airport,” he said.
The same release listed the five busiest airports in the quarter as Soekarno-Hatta Tangerang with 13.48 million passengers, Ngurah Rai Bali with 5.34 million, Juanda Surabaya with 3.21 million, Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar with 2.34 million, and Kualanamu Deli Serdang with 1.80 million.
A separate Soekarno-Hatta International Airport release dated April 13 put Jakarta’s main gateway at 13,492,421 passengers in Q1, up 5.5 percent from 12,783,331 a year earlier, with 6.73 million departing passengers, 6.76 million arriving passengers, and 92,710 aircraft movements, up 6.8 percent from 86,777.
General Manager Heru Karyadi said top domestic routes were Jakarta-Denpasar, Jakarta-Kualanamu, and Jakarta-Surabaya, while international traffic was led by Jakarta-Singapore, Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta-Jeddah.
During the 2026 Eid travel period from March 13 to March 30, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport handled 3,142,236 passengers and 20,629 flights, with passenger traffic rising 6.7% year on year and flight movements up 7.3%.
