KUALA LUMPUR - Indonesia plans to place 4,000 migrant workers in Germany following a cooperation agreement between recruitment firms from both countries.
Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Mukhtarudin said the move follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between PT Tenriawaru Elite Internasional and Aurelium Global Talent GmbH.
He said the ministry will prioritise protection for all workers throughout the recruitment and placement process.
Mukhtarudin said each candidate must complete several preparation stages, including document verification, skills training, contract literacy and briefings on the labour system in Germany.
“We emphasise that the placement process must be carried out professionally, transparently, and accountably.
“Preparing prospective Indonesian migrant workers is the key so that they are not only ready to work, but also understand their rights and obligations.
“Protection must be present from the pre-departure stage, during employment, and even after the placement ends,” he said.
Mukhtarudin added that the cooperation will create job opportunities for Indonesian workers in several key sectors in Germany.
These sectors include hospitality, modern retail and healthcare services.
He also expressed hope that the partnership will be implemented consistently and sustainably while ensuring proper governance and maximum protection for Indonesian migrant workers.
