JAKARTA - The Government of West Jakarta is supporting PT Transportasi Jakarta’s (TransJakarta) recruitment program for 1,000 Mikrotrans drivers, with a target of 30 percent female drivers.
The announcement was made by the Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainnah, during an audience with TransJakarta at the Blok A Meeting Room, West Jakarta City Hall, on Tuesday, April 14.
"We hope this program can absorb workers from the West Jakarta community who desperately need jobs. I also suggest collaborating with the Regional Job Training Center (PPKD) to ensure prospective drivers have competencies that meet TransJakarta's professional standards," Iin said.
She also stressed on operational safety, "As a global city public transportation, the TransJakarta fleet must be friendly to vulnerable groups and free from all forms of violence and sexual harassment."
TransJakarta’s Director of Finance, HR, and Business Support, Mayangsari Dian Irwantari, explained that the recruitment aims to rejuvenate personnel, given about 1,500 Mikrotrans drivers are over 55 years old.
“The entire recruitment process is free, funded by CSR through Baznas (Bazis) DKI Jakarta. Participants will receive medical check-ups, psychological tests, and training at TransJakarta Academy,” Mayangsari said.
She added, “We also target a 30 percent quota for female drivers. Currently, the first TJ Academy graduates total 13, all highly competent and professional women.” Candidates must hold a DKI Jakarta ID, be aged between 22 and 45, have at least a high school education, and exhibit obedience, hospitality, and emotional control.
Sessions will be held across West Jakarta’s eight subdistricts on April 16–17, and successful candidates will earn a provincial minimum wage and start on Mikrotrans buses, with registration open to all residents, subject to competency assessment.
Mikrotrans is a feeder public transport service operated under TransJakarta that functions as a microbus‑based network to connect residential neighborhoods with main transit corridors and transport hubs across Jakarta. As of late 2025, TransJakarta reported that there are approximately 3,842 active Mikrotrans drivers operating across the city’s feeder network.
