JAKARTA - Southwest Airlines and Singapore Airlines have started an interline partnership that allows travelers to book single-ticket journeys combining flights operated by the two carriers. Southwest announced the agreement in Rio de Janeiro on June 8 during the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting.

The partnership uses three shared U.S. gateway airports: Los Angeles International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Southwest said international travelers arriving through those airports can connect to nearly 120 airports in its network. Tickets are available through Singapore Airlines, travel agents and travel websites.

Southwest Airlines Chief Operating Officer Andrew Watterson said, “Journeys that pair Southwest and Singapore Airlines not only connect new geographies but also create consistent high-quality Customer experiences.”

The Singapore Airlines Group, which includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, serves more than 130 destinations in 35 countries and territories. Singapore Airlines flies between its Singapore hub and each of the three U.S. gateways covered by the partnership.

Singapore Airlines becomes Southwest’s eighth active overseas airline partner. The airline’s current partnership portfolio also includes Icelandair, China Airlines, EVA Air, Philippine Airlines, Condor Airlines, Turkish Airlines and All Nippon Airways. Several of those agreements connect Southwest’s domestic network with Asia-Pacific destinations through U.S. gateway airports.

Southwest said it carried more than 134 million customers in 2025 and has added service to five airports in 2026: St. Thomas, Sint Maarten, Santa Rosa-Sonoma County, Knoxville and Anchorage. The airline launched its first international partnership in February 2025 and plans to introduce Rapid Rewards integration in later phases.

The partnership opens during a period of strong Asia-Pacific air travel growth. IATA said international passenger traffic for Asia-Pacific airlines rose 10.9% in 2025, the fastest growth rate of any region, with a load factor of 84.4%. The momentum continued in March 2026, when regional international demand increased 11.5% year on year.

Singapore’s Changi Airport Group recorded 69.98 million passenger movements in 2025 and 23.3 million from January to April 2026, up 1.5% from the same period last year.
