DA LAT - AirAsia has resumed scheduled Kuala Lumpur–Da Lat flights, restoring international service at Liên Khương International Airport after runway and taxiway rehabilitation.

Flight AK571 from Kuala Lumpur landed at Liên Khương at 10:58 a.m. on Sept. 2, followed by outbound flight AK572 at 11:40 a.m., according to VietnamPlus, Vietnam's state-owned media. The arrival was the airport’s first international flight since operations resumed in August.

The inbound flight carried 137 passengers. The Kuala Lumpur–Da Lat route is scheduled to operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, restoring a direct international connection for travellers between Malaysia and Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

Liên Khương, the main airport serving Da Lat, had been closed since March 4 for rehabilitation work. Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority cleared the runway and taxiways to return to service from 00:01 local time on Aug. 19, ending more than five months without airport operations.

The project, valued at more than VND1.03 trillion, included work on the airport’s 3,250-metre runway, taxiways, safety areas, drainage and airfield lighting. Domestic services linking Da Lat with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong and Can Tho have also resumed.

At the Aug. 19 reopening, Civil Aviation Authority Director General Uông Việt Dũng said the airport’s return would “create favourable conditions for tourism, trade, investment and international integration,” according to a CAA statement.

AirAsia had previously restored Kuala Lumpur–Da Lat services in November 2024, also at four flights a week. The renewed connection comes as Malaysia continues its Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism promotion in Vietnam.

A Da Lat–Singapore service is planned to resume in December with three flights a week, according to VietnamPlus. That route remains scheduled rather than operational.
