JAKARTA - Indonesia’s state-owned airport operator InJourney Airports added 53 flight route services across its airports from January to April 2026, including domestic and international links.

The additions were 15 percent higher than the 46 route services recorded in the same period last year. “From January to April 2026, 53 new flight routes have been operated at various airports, consisting of routes that had never been operated before and additional new flight services,” the company’s president director Mohammad R. Pahlevi said as quoted by Indonesia’s state-owned news agency Antara on May 2.

The new services include Wings Air’s Sam Ratulangi Manado to Naha Tahuna route from May, opening another air link inside North Sulawesi. Garuda Indonesia is also adding service from Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika, Papua, in May.

International capacity is also moving. South Korea’s T’way Air started Soekarno-Hatta to Incheon on April 29. Scoot is scheduled to open Belitung to Singapore in May and Pontianak to Singapore in June and Spring Airlines, a privately-owned Chinese airline, plans Guangzhou and Shenzhen services to Soekarno-Hatta in June.

InJourney is still shopping for more routes. At Routes Asia on April 14-16, the company held meetings with 28 airlines and 16 airports for possible services including Tashkent to Bali by Centrum Air and Hong Kong to Surabaya by Greater Bay Airlines.

The push comes as Indonesia’s air travel numbers are still uneven. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) said domestic air transport carried 4.1 million passengers in February, down 17.05 percent from the previous month and international passengers reached 1.5 million, down 15.24 percent.

According to the state-owned statistics agency, foreign visitor arrivals reached 1.16 million in February, up 13.37 percent from a year earlier, while domestic trips reached 91.14 million and outbound trips stood at 701,070.

“In the international route market, our target in two years is to increase flight frequencies on existing routes and open new routes,” Pahlevi said.
