KUALA LUMPUR - Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has launched a unified digital platform to simplify temporary residence declarations for foreigners and lodging notifications for Vietnamese citizens.
The system was introduced during a conference held in Hanoi on May 19, as reported by Vietnam News Agency.
Colonel Pham Hoang Diep, deputy director of the ministry’s Immigration Department, said the rollout marked an important step towards modernising foreigner residence management in Vietnam.
He said the shared platform would help create a more synchronised and efficient system for handling accommodation declarations and security-related data.
According to Diep, the platform is expected to make it easier for accommodation providers and residents to fulfil declaration requirements.
The system is also designed to improve data connectivity, sharing and utilisation for state management involving security and public order.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by Vietnam’s public security authorities to accelerate digital transformation and the application of science and technology.
Under the new arrangement, accommodation providers will no longer need to use separate systems for different declaration purposes.
Instead, a single platform will be used to process temporary residence declarations for foreigners and lodging notifications for Vietnamese citizens.
The system will automatically classify and transfer information to the relevant authorities based on operational responsibilities.
Vietnamese citizens and foreign nationals can now submit temporary residence declarations through https://tbltkbtt.bocongan.gov.vn/
Colonel Diep said the software had already undergone pilot testing in several localities across Vietnam.
Initial results from the pilot programme were positive and largely met operational requirements.
He added that the platform has helped facilitate usage among grassroots police units and accommodation providers.
For foreigner residence declarations, the software has already been integrated into pilot foreigner management procedures in Ho Chi Minh City as well as Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa provinces.
Some stages of the foreigner management workflow are now operating through the platform’s data-processing system.
The nationwide rollout is expected to support preparations for the official implementation of Vietnam’s updated foreigner management process.
The process is scheduled to take effect following approval from the ministry’s leadership from June 15.
Authorities are expected to continue studying operational guidelines and resolving technical issues before the system becomes fully operational nationwide.
Police units and local authorities have also been instructed to ensure smooth and uniform implementation of the software from May 21 ahead of the planned July 1 operational deadline.
