JAKARTA – The Indonesia-China Fast Train Company (KCIC) officially launched its partnership with Trip.com on Thursday, February 13, 2026, enabling international travelers to purchase Whoosh train tickets through the global booking platform.
The collaboration aims to make ticket purchasing more accessible and convenient for foreign passengers, including options to book in their native languages.
The partnership was formalized at Halim Station on Thursday, following a cooperation agreement signed in October 2025.
"Our vision is clear: Train Tickets for Everyone, Everywhere," said Ian Luo, Global Commercial Head of International Train Business at Trip.com Group, in a statement to the media.
Previously, Whoosh offered several ticket purchasing options through the official Whoosh Fast Train app, the KCIC website, and other platforms including Livin by Mandiri, Access KAI, and Tiket.com.
KCIC reported a 60% surge in Whoosh ridership in 2025 compared to 2024. Malaysian tourists led international passengers with 298,531 riders, surpassing travelers from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and 156 other countries.
The 45-minute journey has become a preferred transportation option for international visitors. Notably, African ambassadors chose Whoosh to attend the 70th anniversary celebration of the Asia-Africa Conference on April 18, 2025.
During peak holiday periods such as Christmas and New Year, daily ridership reached up to 23,300 passengers.
KCIC highlights improved transportation accessibility, fuel efficiency, and time savings as key benefits of the high-speed rail service.
However, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi revealed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, that the government paid 1.2 trillion rupiah in debt obligations for the Whoosh project using funds from the State Budget (APBN).
