KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for stricter enforcement against foreign nationals found abusing Social Visit Passes or visa relaxation facilities to work in Malaysia.
MADANI Government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Prime Minister raised the issue during today’s Cabinet meeting after receiving reports and briefings on arrests linked to such misuse.
“Even though their entry is for social reasons, whether to visit or travel, it turns out that elements of employment have been detected,” he said at his weekly press conference last Friday.
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail informed the Cabinet that enforcement action was taken against 54,791 foreign nationals in 2025 and up to mid-January this year.
He added that 51,100 cases were recorded last year, while another 3,691 cases were recorded up to mid-January this year.
