HANOI - Vietnam said on Sept. 12 it had received 110 citizens who were not permitted to remain in the United States through Nội Bài International Airport.
The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security said it coordinated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to receive the group at Nội Bài International Airport.
The 110 citizens came from 17 provinces and cities. Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the largest group, with 42 people, while An Giang, Đồng Nai and Khánh Hòa each accounted for nine, and Đồng Tháp for seven. The remainder came from other localities.
After their arrival, immigration authorities worked with relevant units to check and cross-reference the citizens’ information. The department also coordinated with local police to arrange their return to their places of residence.
Officials said initial checks identified several cases involving suspected links to networks facilitating illegal entry into the United States. Those cases are continuing to be verified and clarified.
The Immigration Department advised Vietnamese citizens travelling to the United States for study, work, tourism or settlement to understand applicable entry, exit and residence rules.
It also warned against using organisations or individuals offering illegal departure, entry or residence arrangements because of the potential legal risks.
