KUALA LUMPUR - Indonesia’s new Ambassador to Malaysia, R.M. Iman Hascarya Kusumo, said protecting Indonesian migrant workers will be one of his top priorities as he begins his assignment.

Appointed by President Prabowo Subianto on October 8, he said existing mechanisms will be strengthened, especially coordination between agencies in both countries to safeguard workers’ welfare, including before they depart for Malaysia.

“The framework is already in place, but it can be strengthened,” he said, as quoted by Radio Republik Indonesia.

Iman plans to work with agencies in both countries to enhance health protection, including support for pre-departure medical screenings.

Before this appointment, Iman served as Deputy Treasurer for the Prabowo–Gibran National Campaign Team during the 2024 Presidential Election.
