KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 25 foreign direct investment (FDI) companies have started operations in Brunei, creating about 4,000 jobs, with nearly 48% of these positions filled by Bruneian citizens, a government minister said.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah said on Saturday that FDI has helped support jobs and economic growth in the country.

He added that 18 more FDI projects are currently being developed and are expected to create around 3,000 additional jobs once they begin full operations between 2026 and 2029.

The projects are in key sectors such as downstream oil and gas, food production, business services, tourism, and information and communication technology.

Mohd Amin said this strategy will improve Brunei’s economic strength and support long-term and stable growth in line with the goals of Brunei Vision 2035.
