JAKARTA - On 31 October, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyongju, South Korea, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
In the bilateral meeting, they discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in education, economy, and trade.
“I also request that if there are teachers from New Zealand who can help us, we would like to add schools or English courses for our workers who want to go abroad,” said Prabowo.
The meeting underscored Indonesia’s interest in improving workforce readiness through English language training and skill development, while also deepening cooperation in trade and education under the Indonesia–New Zealand Comprehensive Partnership framework.
He also highlighted opportunities for expanding education exchanges, particularly in medical and dental studies, emphasizing Indonesia’s need for more qualified professionals in the health sector.
“We also want to send more students to study medicine and dentistry. We really need doctors and dentists,” Prabowo added.
The discussion reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening people to people and educational ties, continuing a partnership that has included academic exchange programs and training cooperation under the Indonesia–New Zealand Comprehensive Partnership framework.
