KUALA LUMPUR - Myanmar has introduced a weekly work from home (WFH) policy for government staff every Wednesday starting March 25 until further notice to reduce fuel use.

The directive was announced in the state owned daily The Mirror on Monday, citing the National Defence and Security Council’s Information Team.

It said the main aim of the measure is to conserve fuel.

Under the policy, officers and staff are advised to avoid non-essential travel and vehicle use on WFH days.

The government also encouraged private companies and businesses to adopt similar arrangements where possible.

The move comes as Myanmar faces possible fuel shortages linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Earlier, the government had introduced an odd-even vehicle system and fuel rationing to manage supply.

It added that efforts are ongoing to secure fuel imports from various sources to ensure continued availability.
