JAKARTA - A person was struck by a Commuter Line train near Tebet Station on Thursday morning, Aug. 20, disrupting Bogor Line service across South Jakarta during rush hour.

KAI Commuter, the operator of Greater Jakarta's commuter rail network, said train KA 1183, running from Bogor to Jakarta Kota, struck the person around 6:35 a.m. local time between Pasar Minggu and Manggarai stations, near kilometer marker 12+7 close to Tebet Station in South Jakarta.

VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda confirmed the location and said officers were handling the scene. KAI Commuter posted its first public update on X around 7 a.m.; by 7:20 a.m., the train remained under inspection at Tebet Station.

Bogor Line trains switched to single-track operation through the area, meaning trains in both directions took turns using one line while the inspection continued. The change backed up services across the route during the morning commute.

One rider told Tribun Jakarta his train was held for an extended period near Pasar Minggu before continuing on the shared track toward Kalibata.

KAI Commuter had not confirmed the condition of the person struck as of late Thursday morning, and police had not issued a statement on casualties.

“This caused delays to Commuter Line trips on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota route,” Amanda said, adding that the company apologized for the disruption and asked passengers to follow staff instructions.

Track near Tebet Station has recorded fatal incidents before, including the death of a woman crossing the tracks there in October 2025.

KAI Commuter said it would keep posting updates as inspections of the track and train continued Thursday.
