KUALA LUMPUR - Six foreign workers were injured after debris from a drone shot down over the United Arab Emirates fell in an industrial area near Abu Dhabi, authorities said on March 5.

According to Abu Dhabi authorities, fragments believed to be from a drone launched from Iran fell in two locations in an industrial district near the capital on the afternoon of March 5.

The injured included Pakistani and Nepali nationals, officials said.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said that since a series of attacks from Iran began on March 4, a total of 941 drones have been launched toward the UAE.

Of these, 876 were intercepted and destroyed, while 65 fell within the country’s territory.

Dubai, located about 140 km from Abu Dhabi, is the Middle East’s largest hub for tourism and trade, and its airport is one of the busiest travel hubs in the world.

More than 90% of the UAE’s population consists of foreign residents, making the country one of the most internationally diverse societies in the Gulf.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as tensions in the region continue to rise.
