KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia’s Consulate-General in Dubai is working with airlines to increase flight services to Malaysia after disruptions left many travellers stranded in the United Arab Emirates.

The consulate said some limited flights have resumed, with priority given to passengers affected by the disruptions.

“The consulate is coordinating with airlines to increase the frequency of flights to Malaysia,” it said in a statement, last Wednesday.

Passengers who are still stranded have been advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flight status.

The consulate said it is closely monitoring the situation in Dubai and the northern emirates following recent regional tensions.

It added that information from local authorities shows security conditions in Dubai remain stable and daily activities are continuing as usual.

However, despite announcements that hotel accommodation costs for stranded passengers would be covered by local authorities, some Malaysians reported that certain hotels were still charging them for extended stays.

The consulate therefore advised Malaysians to confirm payment arrangements directly with their hotels and airlines.

Malaysians in Dubai and the northern emirates were also urged to stay alert, follow official announcements from UAE authorities and the consulate, and make plans if they need to extend their stay, including considering alternative accommodation.
