JAKARTA - Indonesia’s state postal company Pos Indonesia has appointed former TransJakarta operations and safety director Daud Joseph as its new chief executive, according to an announcement from TransJakarta on March 24, 2026.
The company said Joseph resigned from his role at the city transport operator after being selected by Pos Indonesia shareholders under a decision dated March 11, 2026. In its statement, TransJakarta said Joseph’s tenure was marked by efforts to improve operations, service safety, and integration.
“Transjakarta management and all employees would like to express their gratitude for Mr. Daud Joseph's dedication and contributions during his time at Transjakarta, particularly in strengthening operational and safety aspects of the service,” TransJakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza said in the release.
Joseph had served as TransJakarta’s operations and safety director since April 2023 and holds a background in metallurgical engineering from the University of Indonesia and a master’s degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
“We pray for and fully support his new mandate as President Director of Pos Indonesia,” Yuza added.
During his tenure, Joseph helped push the expansion of electric buses, with TransJakarta targeting 50 percent of its fleet on electricity by 2027 and a full shift by 2030.
Last year, Joseph also launched a driver refresher training program and onboard CCTV & additional warning lights for the Mikrotrans system in Jakarta, after data showed around 70 percent of incidents involved rear-end collisions on smaller roads.
But Joseph’s tenure was marked by controversy as well. Last year, Joseph drew public criticism after defending a policy allowing official vehicles to enter busway lanes in emergency situations, responding to a viral footage showing a government car using the corridor.
Transjakarta is the world’s longest Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, spanning over 244-251 kilometers across 14 main corridors with 6,538 employees as of late 2025. Operating in the Indonesian capital, the system connects the Greater Jakarta area, connecting hundreds of routes, and operating daily with a fleet of over 5,000 buses.
