BANGKOK - Thai AirAsia X is scheduled to resume Sapporo flights on Oct. 1, starting a staggered series of international route restorations by Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X through November.
The airlines’ Sept. 22 announcement sets out 10 route restorations scheduled between Oct. 1 and Nov. 17. Thai AirAsia X plans to resume Don Mueang-Sapporo service on Oct. 1 and Don Mueang-Nagoya on Oct. 2. None of the announced restorations had begun as of Sept. 23.
Thai AirAsia’s first listed resumes are Don Mueang-Kuala Lumpur, Don Mueang-Gaya and Phuket-Siem Reap on Oct. 25. Don Mueang-Ahmedabad is scheduled to return on Nov. 6, followed by Guwahati, Hyderabad and Lucknow on Nov. 16 and Jaipur on Nov. 17. Six of the carrier’s eight listed fourth-quarter restorations are Indian routes.
“For the Indian market in particular, Thai AirAsia will resume operations on six temporarily suspended routes,” Tansita Akrarittipirom, Thai AirAsia’s head of commercial, said in the announcement.
Thai AirAsia X also plans higher frequencies on several long-haul routes.
Tokyo is scheduled for up to 21 flights a week and Osaka up to 14. Sapporo is due to operate up to four times weekly from Oct. 1 before rising to seven from Dec. 1, while Nagoya is planned at four weekly flights from Oct. 2.
Together, the four Japan routes would reach as many as 46 flights a week in December. New Delhi and Almaty are each scheduled for four weekly flights.
The two carriers say their combined 2026 winter schedule from Don Mueang will comprise 53 direct routes serving 46 cities: 17 in East Asia, 15 in ASEAN, 13 in South Asia and one in Central Asia. The separate Phuket-Siem Reap restoration is outside that Don Mueang network count.
The expansion follows capacity reductions earlier in 2026. Thai AirAsia cited high fuel costs and softer travel demand when it reduced capacity and temporarily suspended several routes. Thai AirAsia X also cited escalating fuel costs and broader operational pressures when it cut frequencies on Tokyo, Osaka, Almaty and Delhi and suspended other services.
The staggered schedule means the restored network will build through October and November rather than return at once, with Don Mueang-Jaipur the latest of the announced resumptions, scheduled for Nov. 17.
