KUALA LUMPUR - Air India has announced two new international routes to Hanoi and Tokyo as part of its ongoing network expansion.

The airline said the new services aim to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia and the Far East, as reported by The Economic Times.

Flights between Delhi and Hanoi will begin on May 1, operating five times a week using Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Hanoi will become Air India’s second destination in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City.

The new route will allow flexible open-jaw travel options and add more than 7,000 seats per month on routes to and from Vietnam.

Air India will also launch flights between Mumbai and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from June 15.

The service will operate four times weekly using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

The airline already runs daily flights between Delhi and Tokyo (Haneda), which have recently seen frequency and product upgrades.

These upgrades include the introduction of Premium Economy cabins.

Air India said the expansion reflects growing demand among Indian travellers for destinations in Japan and Vietnam.

Japan has become one of the fastest-growing outbound travel destinations for Indian tourists.

Vietnam has also gained popularity among leisure and corporate travellers, particularly in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions segment.

Bookings for the new routes will be progressively opened through Air India’s website, mobile application and travel agents.

The airline said the expansion forms part of its broader strategy to enhance connectivity, improve customer experience and expand its global network.
