JAKARTA - KTMB announced in a statement on February 18 a 30% discount across all Electric Train Service routes in conjunction with Ramadan, which began on February 19. No end date was specified.

Passengers can redeem the discount using promo codes NURRAMADAN or RAMADANTIBA, depending on train number and travel date, through the KITS app, KTMB's website, or station kiosks.

The announcement followed a separate 20% discount on selected ETS trips from February 15 to 22 that covered Chinese New Year and the start of Ramadan. The new deal applies to all routes rather than selected services.

The promotion arrives as the ETS network reaches its largest-ever footprint. KTMB launched ETS service to JB Sentral on December 12, 2025, after the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, officiated the ceremony at Kempas Baru on December 11, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in attendance.

The launch completed the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project, a 192-kilometre upgrade spanning 11 new stations that had been under construction since 2017, originally targeted for 2021 before COVID-19 and land acquisition delays pushed it back by over three years.

The service runs four daily trips between KL Sentral and JB Sentral, two in each direction, with the journey taking around 4.5 hours. One-way fares start at RM82.

With Hari Raya Aidilfitri expected around March 20, this coming festive season is the southern extension's first at peak demand, and the first time travellers heading to Johor will have a discounted electric train option for the journey south.
