JAKARTA - PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) confirmed on Sunday, March 8, that the Ministry of Transportation has approved the permits for two LRT Jakarta extension routes: Phase 2A to Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Phase 2B toward Halim Perdanakusuma.
Jakpro President Director Iwan Takwin made the disclosure at a media discussion at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Central Jakarta. “Phase 2A to JIS and Phase 2B to Halim have been approved by the Ministry of Transportation in terms of licensing. However, given the current conditions, we must consider how to be creative in terms of funding,” he said.
He also added, “We're continuing to review it. Please wait, as we're currently drafting a plan to determine which priorities the Governor will prioritize.” The results will then be reported to Governor Pramono Anung for a final decision.
Iwan indicated JIS may be the likelier first priority. “Because JIS has become a new icon or new landmark on the northern side, it can become a trigger for new economic activities in the north. Where the mobility of Jakarta residents from the centre and south to the north can be connected in a shorter time than before. We are continuing to work on this. So please wait, be patient,” he said.
Phase 2A covers the Kelapa Gading to JIS corridor, spanning 8.2 kilometres across six stations, with an estimated investment of Rp8.66 trillion. Phase 2B covers the Velodrome to Klender corridor on the way to Halim, spanning 4.5 kilometres across four stations, with an investment of approximately Rp3.65 trillion.
Both projects are being offered to private investors under a public-private partnership scheme with an internal rate of return of 11.23 percent. Feasibility studies and preliminary basic engineering designs have been completed for both.
The announcements come as Jakpro races to complete Phase 1B, the 6.4-kilometre Velodrome to Manggarai extension. It’s the only LRT Jakarta project currently under active construction, which had reached 89.22 percent completion as of end December 2025.
Commissioning tests will begin after Lebaran 2026, with commercial operations targeted for August 2026 by Jakpro, while the Ministry of Transportation’s official target is early 2027. The currently operational Phase 1A, covering 5.8 kilometres between Pegangsaan Dua in North Jakarta and Velodrome across six stations, has been running since 2019.
